A U.S. MINI Challenge Gets Closer

It’s almost official... MINI USA is working overtime on bringing the MINI Challenge cars to the United States!

In our November-December issue (#11; see The MINI John Cooper Works Challenge, page 38) we wrote about the possibilities of the turn-key factory race program coming to the states after having spoken with numberous BMW/MINI executives, including Dr. Kay Segler, Senior VP of Brand Management (shown here at Frankfurt) at the Frankfurt Auto Show. We learned that MINI Europe personnel were very interested in bringing the MINI Challenge series to the U.S., but that MINI USA wasn't in a financial position to make it happen, nor did they seem to have the desire.

Well, the situation has changed to our advantage, as the story we printed, plus hundreds of calls and e-mails from interested parties, had some effect on the New Jersey HQs, sufficient enough to... (To read the rest of the story, click on the above photo)
