MINI GP World Challenge

August 29, 2008

Just a week ago, Oscar Revelli and Salvatore Carobene, were at Northwest MINI getting their MINI GP ready for their great adventure. As we write this, they are crossing S. Korea and will be in Vladivostok, Russia on the US Labour Day holiday, and motoring down the Trans-Siberian Highway towards Mongolia and Europe the following days.

The adventure started in Oscar's dreams early this year. We'll tell the full story here in a separate sidebar/heading during September, as well as in the next issue of MC2 (issue #17) that mails early November.

They drove almost non-stop from Tampa, Florida to our editorial headquarters near Seattle, Washington in four days (Oscar says he slept on the grass at a public rest stop for a few hours Wednesday!), had the expert assistance of several certified MINI technicians from Northwest MINI to install sponsor's parts and loaded the GP into a Korean Air Lines 747 freighter Monday, August 25.

Equipped with various cameras, video, computers, a sateliite phone and their Italian and US citizen passports, we hope to hear from our two intrepid voyagers in a few days with details of the first foreign leg of their challenge. They plan on  motoring into Turin, Italy late September for their family celebration.

Now this is a story worth placing a bookmark to and checking daily!
